Nude lips reigned supreme on the red carpet.
The red carpet has been ruled by statement lips for the last couple of seasons — reds, fuchsias, tangerines and even deep burgundies — but the 76th Golden Globes saw the return of a more natural look
“I think there were so many statement fashion looks this year, that neutral lips just made sense,” says make up artist Mai Quynh, who gave Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer a liquid lip using Burt’s Bees in Niagara Nude 802. “Neutral lips flow with any color palette that you wear.”
Rosamund Pike’s makeup artist Melanie Inglessis opted for a neutral nude pink lip in Chantecaille’s Lip Chic in Amour while Amy Adams wore Pat McGrath’s PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencil in Bare Rose layered with Lust Gloss in Flesh.
Meanwhile, Roma star Yalitza Aparicio layered Dior Lip Glow in 101 Matte Pink and Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Bitch.
“I always love a nude lip. I think it is so feminine and easy,” agreed Thandie Newton’s makeup artist Georgie Eisdell. “With Thandie’s lip look we were going for a ’70s vibe, and this gorgeous Chantecaille lipstick in Mirage was the perfect nude shade. I think we are going to see a lot more nudes in 2019. A nude lip always ties a look together.”
