After an 11-day run at the box-office, the Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba is drawing nearer to the coveted Rs 200 crore-club. Its total earning stands at 196.80 crore.
The Ranveer Singh-starrer big-ticket film Simmba has turned out to be the third biggest box-office hit of 2018. The masala action potboiler, on its second Monday, added Rs 6.16 crore more to its kitty as it continued its spectacular run in the cinemas. After an 11-day run at the box-office, its total collection stands at Rs 196.80 crore. In all likelihood, the film will breach the Rs 200 crore-mark today.
Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty, will be the third entrant in the Rs 200 crore-club after Sanju and Padmaavat. It will be Shetty’s third and Ranveer’s second film to achieve the feat.
Simmba, also starring Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in important roles, casts Ranveer as a cop for the first time in his career of more than eight years. He plays ACP Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba who is in the profession only to make quick bucks. His conscience awakens, when the girl he treats as his sister, gets raped and killed.
Simmba, upon its release on December 28, received mixed reviews from film critics. The audience, however, was largely appreciative of the film – a large chunk of it labelled Simmba as ‘paisa vasool.’
A joint production venture between Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty Picturez, Simmba is presented by Reliance Entertainment. It is loosely based on Temper, the 2015 Telugu hit that starred N. T. Rama Rao Jr. as the main man.
